Damage tracking in laboratory reinforced concrete bridge columns under reverse-cyclic loading using fusion-based imaging

چکیده
Fusion-based imaging using ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and ultrasonic echo array (UEA) was employed to track damage progression in the columns of two full-scale reinforced concrete (RC) bridge column-footing subassembly laboratory specimens. The specimens had different lap-splice detailing were subjected reverse-cyclic lateral loading simulating a subduction zone earthquake. GPR UEA scans performed on east west faces at select ductility levels. Reconstructed images obtained extended total focusing method (XTFM) fused wavelet-based technique. Composite each column's interior created by merging from both sides. A quantitative analysis based structural similarity (SSIM) index accurately captured progression. backwall amplitude reflector also performed. Changes as early first measurement (μ = 0.5 displacement level) could be detected. Damage variation along column height observed, consistent with greater base. proposed analyses distinguished behavior differences between In summary, SSIM metric provides valuable tool for detecting changes, while offers simple yet informative insights into distribution RC members.

Reinforced Concrete Bridge Piers Subjected to Reversed Cyclic Loading
Sixteen large-scale reinforced concrete specimens without web reinforcements were tested to study the behavior of typical bridge piers subjected to deflection reversals that were large enough to cause extensive yielding of the longitudinal reinforcement. The different parameters considered included shear spanto-depth ratio, percentage of longitudinal reinforcement, frequency of the applied load...
متن کاملBehaviour of Reinforced Fibrous Concrete Beams under Reversed Cyclic Loading
When earthquakes occur, energy released by the earthquake gets induced into the structure as ground motion and this energy has to be dissipated for safety reasons. To release seismic energy, the structure should damage in such a way that on one hand, collapse of structure should not occur and on the other hand, after the earthquake, damage should be economically feasible to repair. To avoid the...

متن کاملTime-Dependent Behavior of Reinforced Polymer Concrete Columns under Eccentric Axial Loading
Polymer concretes (PCs) represent a promising alternative to traditional cementitious materials in the field of new construction. In fact, PCs exhibit high compressive strength and ultimate compressive strain values, as well as good chemical resistance. Within the context of these benefits, this paper presents a study on the time-dependent behavior of polymer concrete columns reinforced with di...
